In my state, persons that are going through a divorce with children are required to talk with social services. The purpose is to be sure that the children are in a safe environment.

I have had several meetings with social services and each was pretty basic (don't hurt the kids and provide a safe home).

Today, we discussed an abuse wheel. The social worker specifically asked if I had committed any of the pegs on the wheel. This abuse wheel is beyond outdated and included things like, 'when have you ever prevented her from getting a job outside of the home?'

I was beyond offended that I was asked these questions but I tried to answer the best that I could. I answered that my STBXW earned more than me, that we live in separate homes, and have separated bank accounts. There were many other similar questions...

Since I didn't admit to anything on the wheel, the social worker said that she didn't believe me and that we would continue to meet until I admitted one of the abuses.

The truth is that I didn't commit any actions on the abuse wheel. If I continue to tell the truth, then I will have to continue to meet with social services. If I lie and admit abuse, then social services would be available for education.

The social worker kept saying that this doesn't affect custody arrangements, even though I never mention custody in that or any prior meetings.

Has anyone else had a similar situation? It feels like I am being threatened to comply.
