Been seeing this girl for years on/off since school. We hook up whenever she is in my city. I started to want to take things further and be exclusive, so I brought it up to her and she agreed. This was about two weeks ago.
She was always really ‘laddish’, but not in a brash, try-hard way. She was more laid-back than other women I’ve been with. She never wore dresses or make-up, always in jeans and with short hair. Kind of dominant in bed, but that’s what I like, and she REALLY likes anal. At work she’d wear a tie sometimes. I just thought he had a kooky style.
She told me last week that she thinks she is transgender, ie she thinks she’s really a gay man. (S)he said (s)he wanted to be honest with me as we’re dating now, not just fuck buddies. (S)he’s talking things through with a therapist.
The thing is, I’m not sure I mind too much. (S)he is funny, laid-back, and we have a great time together, shared hobbies etc, so I’m willing to give it a shot. The thing is, if (s)he goes through with changing, I’ll be in (what looks like) a gay relationship.
That’s not how I identify. I’ve always seen myself as a fully masculine, red-blooded guy, and I’m feeling really strange about exploring this potential new identity. Anyone have any experience of this? Could it work out? Am I gay? Should I just move on and find someone who fits the usual profile, or have a stab at being with my best friend?

If you stick with her, she is going to start taking testosterone and start growing a beard. Her voice may change. Her clit may grow into a small penis. She may even have breast reduction surgery to look more masculine. Does her personality trump all that?

If you're a woman, your input really isn't terribly germane or useful in a TRP context.
If you're not, it's still not useful, since advice on how men can optimize their sexual strategy while wearing a dress isn't terribly meaningful.

If you want to catch fish, you don't get advice from the fish, you ask a fisherman. Female dating advice for men is always (sometimes inadvertently) aimed at minimizing men's choices and optimizing outcomes for women. It's how we got here in the first place.
As for your second point, this board is intended to help men to achieve an optimal outcome in attracting women. As I stated, if you are not a woman, but a man wearing a dress, then your feedback won't be at all useful - the percentage of attractive (again, to men) women who will find a man in a dress anything other than the most beta of betas is vanishingly small, and thus not germane to what we discuss here.
Again, if you're a woman, you're advice is not welcome or useful here. If, on the other hand, you are a man, but prefer to act and dress like a woman, your advice is also not welcome here.

As if that is a bad thing.
Because it doesn't have to. One of our more fundamental maxims is "watch what women do, not what they say". In fact, most readers arrive here after suffering absolutely epic levels of failure following the traditional feminine "just be yourself" advice.
You, personally, are welcome to be whatever you want to be, but you cannot have your cake and eat it too. Again, if you are a woman, your input is not useful and not welcome in this context. If, on the other hand, you consider yourself to be a man, but one who acts and dresses like a woman, your advice is useless here since the number of women who would find that attractive is stupendously small.
