In my opinion, you're still a bit young to make such a significant permanent decision. I'd wait a few years and definitely at least tell your parents about your decision before going through with it.

I'm sure you have decisions that you made at age 15 or 16 that you no longer agree with. Don't make this a decision you look back on in a few years and regret.

Most doctors are going to refuse you unless you show up to their office 4+ times.

Even when you're older they tend to refuse. I have a good relationship with my GP and brought up the idea and he basically said it will take a lot of badgering to get a doctor to do the op on someone who is childless and <35 or so.

This is in the US anyways.

I was thinking about doing it but learned that a product called vasagel is on track to come out in 2018. They inject some stuff into your tubes that block it so it's just as effective but safer and completely reversible. Decided I'm just going to wait it out until then.

I say yes.

However be ABSOLUTELY sure you never want kids. There's only a 50% chance the reversal surgery will work. Also there's a 5% chance the tubes will reattach on their own .meaning you'll be fertile.

Also most doctors won't do vasectomies on young guys. I was 40 and had no issues but I've heard of guys 18-22 getting turned down by multiple doctors. So keep that in mind.

Just use fucking condoms, no matter how safe people say it is, no matter how reversible doctors say it is, a fucking condom beats an invasive surgery every single time.

edit: even more if that fucking surgery is in your dick n balls.

I am 19yo and dont want kids yet either. However the fact it is irreversible puts me off. If I was you I would hold off another year or two and hope vasalgel becomes available to the public
