I think you should lean bulk, you don't have any visible muscle mass, so if you cut anymore you'll get super skinny

First it's not fun to figure out, but what do you want? You definitely look much better so that's a start.

Ties into what I said above, but you're not going to feel like a monster if you're cutting. You have to get bigger to feel bigger.

If I was 5'9 156, I would bulk to 170 over a period and see.

One thing that has helped my confidence in sticking to a plan has just been setting one year goals in the gym instead of just speed bulking/cutting. I know I look better than I did one year ago. I know if I stick to what I'm doing and work hard I'll look better in another year.

Plus you're doing great for 16. I would start slowly gaining mass over the next 4-6 months and then assess. I know BF % is important for certain things, but for you since you're not competing or anything you're really just trying to look like a badass. So you would ideally bulk until you felt like you were too big, or cut vice versa.

Cut until you reach 10-12% body fat and then bulk while keeping track of your macros and adjusting accordingly. The problem with bulking when you’re already overweight or +20% body fat is that you tend to rationalise shit eating as “I’m bulking, bro”.

Starting from a lean base will allow for better performance of your lifts (provided you are making measurable progress), and will prioritise muscle gain and minimise fat accumulation. This is provided your diet is on point.

There is no magical 8 or 12 week body transformation- it’s a long process where consistency is key.

It will take time but you can do it.

Keep cutting. Drop 10/15 more and then slowly increase calories over a year. Keep trying to add weight or reps/sets. If you gain weight too fast lower calories slightly.

Illiac furrow is more important than abs, since abs are often asymmetrical and that starts being a detriment when they're too defined. They're also barely visible for you, and that could either be because you don't have any muscles to speak of there or because you still have too much fat.

congrats on getting rid of manboobs , time to get some muscle mass. Bulk on healthy foods or slow bulk
