Hi all,

At my first time at the gym, I asked someone to correct my deadlift form if needed. He taught me a few things etc and I remember he really emphasized on pulling the shoulders back/retracting scapulae during deadlifts. I was like ok, and I've been doing this ever since.

A week ago I felt my form was off during cable rows so I looked up a youtube video and again, the guy in the video said you should retract your scapula and never roll your shoulders forward at any point during the lift.

Today, I read an article from this website: http://nattyornot.com/should-i-retract-my-shoulders-during-deadlifts/ It says that retracting the scapulae during pulling exercises is bad and can cause impingements.

Well, shit. So what's correct? Should I retract the scapulae during my deadlifs and cable rows while the weight's still light enough until I can't anymore and just let it roll? Should I try to retract at all times? Should I never retract?

Thanks a lot
