Make it a habit to flirt and display interest casually to and with every girl. They will just see it as part of your personality then and if you are a charismatic, popular guy as def. not creepy. That's what I always did in college and it worked great, made the girls want me and at the same time they attachted no ulterior motive to my actions other than being playful.

The problem is that if you show too much interest she will lose interest, and if you don't show enough interested she will be creeped out when you try to escalate. I would say it's a matter of practise.

lightly grazing someone's upper arm when you leave or walk by in a gesture of caring is always a huge tip off that the person is into you - most women understand at that point and then watch for their signal if they're into it or not and follow through accordingly
