I found the pill about 4 years ago. I swallowed it 2 years ago.

Over the course of this time I’ve watched a long time friend of mine with a red pill lense curious as to what would happen.

Backstory

I’ll call him Ben and call her Karen

Ben met his now wife Karen at age 20, they dated and all the while she was a walking red flag. History of bulimia, depression, partying, moody, anti social, arrogant etc. Her one positive trait was she was pretty, probably a hb7. My friend was originally a pretty cool guy for that age and was in a band, but aside from that was altogether average. 5’10, skinny fat, no hobbies outside gaming and a mummy’s boy to boot! Despite all this he wanted to be Karen’s “hero” and was quick to please her however she desired.

She seemed to tolerate him most the time and there was very little visible affection and or love from her part. She seemed too self absorbed with her own “problems”. I should mention while dating they both became Christian but Karen decided to drop the faith about 1 year in. This has remained the same to this day.

Fast forward 3 years and she was on the cusp of leaving him. Boredom? disappointment? Who knows but he decides the best thing to do is propose. She accepts and they get married. The wedding was horrible with her making public digs at him in a distasteful fashion, even his parents were visibly offended. It was clear that she thought herself better than him.

Anyway after the first year in their new home he realises he can’t keep up with repayments. After all he was just working at the supermarket while trying to go back to school and study. His wife Karen also regularly made negative comments about his inability to do anything manly. “Not very handy are you, I thought you’d know how to fix that!” He stresses the hell out and decides they have to sell.

They sell and decide to move in with her parents since his parents didn’t want to deal with it (they weren’t big fans of her after the wedding).

He spends the next 3 years living with her parents while studying at college and working nights at the supermarket. Everything gets worse. She cuts off sex to once every few months, texts him while at work things like “why aren’t you here? You’re so selfish and never here when I need you!” He just can’t do anything right. Painted as static constant problem.

This has continued on to the present day and whenever I ask “how’s Karen going?” (whom I have not personally seen in about 3 years as she doesn’t like to socialise with us) it’s met with a variation of “she’s a bit sick at the moment” “yeh she’s not good this week”.

Perpetually upset, perpetually sick, perpetually miserable.

Yet they are still together. Ben is a broken man when you look at him but in his mind he is somehow winning because he’s with Karen. She is his WORLD. If she calls to talk he immediately mimics her tone of misery and it’s as if he must hide any fun from her.

Anyway I feel sorry for my friend but how long will this go on? By a red pill standard she should’ve divorced him by now. He is ultra blue pill to the core. She works in retail as a manager making more money than him. Yet still together. Is this a ticking time bomb or will things eventually workout?
