I grew up in Honolulu Hawaii and moved to a cold part of Canada several years ago and now this question just pisses me off because it always leads to the same series of conversations. Now that I've discovered TRP I now realize I can spin this somehow. I've always known this gave me some sort of advantage but never knew how to deal with it.

I typically just say "Oh I grew up in the US". Just because I'm sick of talking about Hawaii and warm weather.

They get curious with the vague answer and ask "Oh cool which part of the US?" and if they're not interested at all won't ask anything more.

"Honolulu, Hawaii"

Now there are either two responses - "What!? What are you doing here!?" is the answer 90% of the time. The other one is "Wow. You're lucky/I wish I could live in Hawaii".

Now where do I go from here? I usually just go "Yeah its pretty much like everywhere else when you live there a long time" which hasn't ever worked. The response to the "What are you doing here" is school and school related stuff but obviously that shit doesn't attract anyone.

What is the correct TRP response???
