You're a fucking spider monkey, hanging out in your best tree.

Berries are running out, though. You see a tree nearby that has a huge crop, and seems unoccupied.

Does it make more sense to find a place to swing across, knowing that you can hold onto both trees for a second in case one of the branches breaks, or to leap full tilt into the unknown, fully committing to the move even though you don't know if there's another as yet unseen monkey who has laid claim to this tree and will kick the shit out of you and throw you to the ground for attempting to steal her berries?

Women are risk averse.

They CAN just leave.

The best ones:

If things are good: Stay committed and invest;
If things are going downhill: Display warning signs, try to solve, then quit;
If Chad comes, shows investment and seems available enough: Swing. Notice that he must come and show investment, they're not actively baiting him.

The worst ones:

If things are good: Stress test the guy to figure out the least they can put;
WHEN things are going downhill: Cling, whine and increase nagging on the guy and try to shame him into fulfilling them;
To whatever Chad they see: Try to seduce and secure his approval and future commitment through whatever means necessary, fucking if needed, while working on destroying their perception of the current partner's value (also by destroying him) to enable a guilt free swing.

The secure women trust their choices and ability to find new partners if they drop a relationship. Insecure women don't and might cling. Shitty women stress test men to see how low they can invest. Good chicks offer what they feel like. Healthy chicks shit test here and there but add to a guy's sense of self worth. Fucked up women nag men out of it.

All women exist in a balance of those men. Some polarize the best traits, some polarize the worst.
Most women are insecure (averse to losing the relationship) and "good" (invest what they feel they should and don't seek to minimize it, but get pissed if it's not enough). "Fucked up" varies too wildly to enable a good generalization, but if they are it worsens with time in the LTR.

Because in our evolutionary past women could not survive without male protection and resources. Hence why they still avoid being single. They are running on cave girl emotions without knowing it.
