I don't send up follow up text before meeting up, if we've made plans I assume she shows up, if not I have fun anyhow doing whatever. Some people use a follow up text before the meet and spin it like this "hey I'm running 15 minutes late" to gauge if she will actually show.

I like calling and (vetting) the girl before I meet. Plus if you get them to talk abit, get a little mystery going it adds a little investment on her part building rapport.
