Tips for going out alone?

Going out alone and having a great deal of success over a long period of time is for the very experienced man. A wingman will suit you better for the time being.

Don’t give up. Don’t think you are weird. Approach. Getting shot down means one less out of the way.

Wrote this for another post, but it applies here too...

Even if you have a bad, boring time alone and meet nobody, at least scout out places and things to do for next time when you go out with friends or dates. Try that store, restaurant, bar, or activity you have been wanting to and then next time you go you will feel more comfortable and confident.

I go out 3 x a week alone, usually return in the same way, having had a good conversation, a couple of glasses of wine and a few business cards. After contacting those I met, I go to bed.

The only issue I have is that I can't go to most bars, as they are too loud to make conversation in. So, any of you esteemed RPers have tips on finding quieter places or dealing with venues where I can't hear myself, much less the other person, speak?
