I've been having some trouble recently with breathing when lifting. It's been fucking me up in the gym to the point where I'll have to cut out a set because I feel too lightheaded or just groggy to finish up. I notice that if I breathe, my muscles relax and I have no strength to finish the rep or set depending on how far along I am. A lot of the times the only way I can finish a set is by holding my breath during a rep, taking a couple of seconds to quickly breathe, hold my breath and finish the next rep or two.
I'm not sure if this issue is a mental barrier or I might be lifting too much, but any advice on how to fix this? Should I lift less?
