So, TIL that I can't maintain my frame. It wasn't in a PUA context, but rather a salesman context - we started discussing my bike, what I was looking to buy, etc. I had some basic ground rules for myself before it started and halfway through they were all gone. Things like "don't let him lead the conversation" and "make a statement and don't immediately justify it", "don't engage him if he offers more expensive alternatives than what you're looking for", "always maintain eye contact and don't look away too much" etc etc.

Clearly some mental conditioning needs to happen, and a brief self-analysis tells me that I don't like confrontation so I generally agree with people in order to be more likeable but what practical exercises are there to make sure you stick to your own frame? If I can't do it with a salesman, what chance do I have with a gal?

Also, what about modifying a frame in a situation like this because the salesman does actually know more about what we're discussing than I do? (I'm not a mechanical engineer, and while I do my research, there's only so much I can infer from technical specs and other people's reviews online.)

Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions? Advice?

Cheers.
