Those are general tips, but not solid foundations. What's more important in the context of sales is knowing what you want and knowing what your principles are. You can be meek and not as social in conversation in this context (because it's just a salesman and who really gives a fuck) as long as you adhere to what you want and not be bent to their will.

That's for building rapport and a sense of connection. You have no need of those things with a salesman. If you have no need of that connection, Id recommend doing the opposite; it shows uncertainty in your purchasing decision, and lessons the perceived affect of his effort, both of which could make him work harder on the sale, potentially to your advantage.

Salesman, especially good ones, are going to do the equivalent of "shit test" you, except with different goals. Instead of trying to tear you down to see how "alpha" you are, they're going to try and sweeten you up and work you around.

Treat it like a shit test.

Ultimately, your frame is done by not caring what frame they're working from. You're working from instinct, and that's your issue. You need to slow down. Take an uncomfortably long time to answer. It's fine. What feels like 30 seconds to you probably is more like 3 seconds as you formulate an answer.

Just THINK a lot more before you talk. There's this sensation to fill in that aural space - but let it sit there and linger so you get used to it. If it's uncomfortable, the salesman wants the sale - so he'll start playing by your rules to see how he can get a response from you.

Tables turn when you're trying to get the lady (you're the salesman now, basically). So, maybe approaching women and watching how they act like the "tough sale" can give you a goal while approaching women while improving your consumer skills.

Your frame is all wrong for a salesman interaction. The frame should be "tell me why I should spend my money here"
