The fundamental difference is that men know women are different and go with it. Women know men are different and try and change men/make them better.

There are obvious physical differences. Men has more strength and quicker muscle growth than women.

Men have much more stable hormones allowing them to perceive their world with a constant stable frame of reference to their emotions. Something most women lack and therefor get very subjective views of their situations.

Evolutionary biology has for many hundred thousand years favored women to be gentle and nurturing maybe even a bit passive. A man would want to be sure his woman didn't run off and get killed when he was out hunting. Therefor these qualities are more attractive to men than women who are harsh, uncareful, dominant and so on. Thus women's fertility (showed off by her physical attributes) and a women's social submissiveness became the attractive things to men. Women were made the object of raising offspring.

Men were favored in survival when they could make quick and intelligent decisions in stressful situations. Overcome dangers and obstacles with their strength and speed. Social dominance so that he wouldn't let his partner or any other women/inferior men make decisions. Basically anything that could make him become a long term successful provider for her. Men were made the object of providing to women and their offspring.
