LTR and I broke up rather mutually a couple days ago. Logistical reasons regarding going to school and not wanting to LDR.

Ending it hit me pretty hard the first couple of hours, but since then I’ve been surprisingly fine. Minimal negative side effects, excluding poor sleep the night of.

I feel as if I’ve internalized the idea “there’s some good ones and some bad ones.” Combining this with my foresight on the expiration of the relationship, I’m quite unphased. Maybe I’ll be struck by sadness shortly, but it honestly doesn’t seem like that’s the case.

That being said — I feel a pull to get involved with other girls. I’m not sure if this is an effort to fill a void, or if it’s just my natural desire for women.

In short, I’m worried that I’m not over my break up, despite being rather unbothered by its occurrence. I’m worried that I will treat women like human flesh lights, and be unable to see quality traits in quality girls. I don’t want to become numb and jaded, nor do I want to cause unnecessary damage to the people around me.

I know TRP is amoral, but surely dating too soon after a breakup at least has negative consequences. I want your thoughts on “indicators” or “signs” that it’s time to begin talking to new women.

TLDR: Unphased by rather mutual breakup with LTR. Want to begin seeing other women, but don’t want to be coming from the wrong place (becoming jaded or hurting others). What are your criteria for dating after a breakup?
