One area of TRP I am still struggling to wrap my head around is how to handle situations where ones LTR says that she wants "space" or more time to herself. From what I have read and understood thus far, this statement is essentially a red flag as what she really means is that she is not that into you and wants to create space to see what other options are out there... basically preparing to branch swing.

I've read two schools of thought on how to handle this and am curious to get opinions as to the proper course of action per TRP principles.

Approach A - Push Back: Per Athol Kay's MMSLP, when a wife wants space, it basically means she's getting ready to cheat, and the husband needs to shut that shit down ASAP. This approach logically makes sense... you're asserting to your LTR/wife that this type of behavior is not acceptable. You are setting and enforcing your boundaries.

Approach B - Withdraw Attention: However, per what I've read through TRP, the proper course of action is to remain calm, stoic, and rapidly withdraw attention from the girl. Doing so sends the message that you are a high value man with options and you're not hung up on her. Withdrawing attention and not getting worked up will be a shock to her and she will rethink her need for "space." The rationale here seems to be... AWALT. If she's going to branch swing, she's going to branch swing and there's nothing you can do about it.

Now, both of these approaches cannot be right. For a plate or non-serious relationship, I would definitely say that the second approach is the way to go. However in a serious LTR/marriage, I see the merits of the first one.

Is one of these approaches inherently 'right' or better than the other? From personal experience, every time a girl has requested "space," it's usually a bad sign and usually ends in her ultimately leaving... so perhaps these approaches are just akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
