I found love. One day I was walking around the city and there she was, just sitting there. It was obvious that she needed some work. Her body wasn't up to my standards but she was gorgeous none the less. I walked up to her and did a thorough examination right then and there. I made an offer that I felt was acceptable and found myself the owner of a 1968 Shelby Mustang Fastback. The only girl I will ever love.

I love me.

Maybe it's being homeless. Maybe it's my shitty family. Maybe it's all the failed relationships. Maybe it's friends/family robbing me and lying to my face. Maybe it's all the let downs. For many years I've known that I'm the only one in the world I can rely on. I'm the only one I can trust. I'm the only one that won't hurt me.

Girls, friends, family come and go, I'll be here from day one until I die. I'm all I need. Everything else is just a bonus.

What you're essentially asking is where do you find happiness. Since most people associate love with happiness, they think "finding love" will make them happy. Could it? Sure, if you're in the .0000000001% of humans who find their perfect soul make who completes you and you trust with your life and you both die old, together, commited, and happy at nearly the same time.

Don't count on it, though.

In reality, you are wholly responsible for your own happiness. It comes from living your life the way you truly want to live, while also simultaneously cutting out the bad. You have to be completely at peace with yourself first, or nothing else above will matter. You have to know that circumstances change, nothing lasts forever, and an outcome independence mindset in all situations will do you more good than attachments in the end.

Life is hard, and finding true peace and happiness eludes most people because society has conditioned us to be needy and believe in fairy tales that don't exist.

Stop looking for love, and look for the ways you can improve yourself from the inside to be completely at peace with yourself. If you can truly say (and mean) that you don't need love to be happy, then I think you will get what you're looking for in life.

"Finding love" is just a way for people to find temporary happiness and oxytocin release in their brains. Very few things last forever.

If you learn to give those things, love, compassion, etc freely, then you will receive them in abundance. It starts with giving them to yourself.
