Throwing yourself into more situations like the ones you’re startled in in a healthy and paced way could mitigate the effect you get

Marcus Aurelius talked about this. He said that just "jumping" is a natural human reaction. It's only bad when you continue to act scared after you have been able to assess the threat. I really wouldn't lose sleep over this.

If you want to remove this habit then all you can do is condition your senses to the point where it can better differentiate what is a threat and what is not.

But in saying that, it's still going to happen every so often. Again, it's a natural reaction and you shouldn't lose sleep over it.

I’m the same way to some extent.

You’re anxious.

Maybe it’s because you aren’t getting enough sleep, you aren’t eating enough, or you masturbating too much but generally there’s a physiological cause.

You’re jumpy because you’re constantly playing out scenarios in your head “expecting something” but you’re not sure what. So when anything pops up while you’re on edge, it spooks you.

To reduce this, meditate more, take care of your health, and try to get out of your head.
