So my LTR of 1.5 years and I broke up this week -

I knew we should break up because she was stifling my progress, but I was waiting for our semester to end so that things would be smooth (and because I was still holding on internally despite knowing it could not work...beta move)

She could sense my feelings and things devolved. She brought it out yesterday and broke up with me.

I recognize that ending our relationship is for the better rationally and it has motivated me to work harder since. But when I stop working towards my mission and just pause, I feel intensely emotional. I want nothing but to call her and work things out. I know it's the worst thing I can do but I can barely help myself. My relationship with her took me away from my closest friends and prevented me from connecting with new ones. She was my best friend and now there's no one...stupid I know.

How do you get over this emotionality and sustain yourself following a breakup solely on your own? How long does it take?
