Young and paid?

Me.

I got my degree in journalism, was making low salary($20k-$30k) for a few years producing sports radio shows and newscasts. Switched over to the sales side of the industry to make more money. Still not making 70k but its more than what I was making when I was on the news/production side.

When I was 16 in 1990, I was earning close to $60,000 a year while also going to high school full time.

It is bullshit, total fucking bullshit, for any male in the US to be crying poor. Total bullshit, no matter your age.

I currently work as an IT coordinator at a school making $30.20 an hour, but it's only a 9-3 job (but the paid holidays are great!).

I also have one semester left of university, where I study business (marketing/international business).

After this I'm going to get my TEFL/CELTA and teach English overseas for some time and work on my language skills. Once I am ready, I'll then move back into business with experience in Asia and good language skills.

Some people, like the guy above, are very driven and great at making money regardless of age. I still spend a lot of my time doing leisure activities that improve my mood for work and study, but I also spend a lot of time learning in areas outside my course (namely analytics for sport, economics and philosophy).

I'm only 21, but my idea is to just keep adding value, keep creating momentum and enjoy yourself to keep you going, and then the big money will come when it's time.

I've probably gone off track, I can't even remember the initial post. Just invest in yourself...

I don't think everyone is a banker or a petroleum engineer.

These successful people are driven.

They work hard for their goals. But they also know what kind of work they need to do to achieve their goals. You can work your ass off sometimes and get barely anything in return. All because you were doing the wrong work.

Learn that your money is just a tool you use to get more money. Think clearly, do not let your emotions drive you, and take risks. Sooner or later, you'll be making a similar salary to the ones mentioned. And never work for free. If you feel you are cornered, don't you believe you actually are. It's better to take a step back, rethink your course of actions, and decide where to go on from there.

Me (soon, hopefully).

This fall or next spring I'm going to enroll in my university's law enforcement academy, then apply at one of the local police agencies.

I'd either stay at one of those agencies if I really like it, or possibly move on to joining the state troopers after gaining some experience at a smaller department.
