Hey guys, I am somewhat new here so I hope this follows the rules and all.

I am 29M & need some advice on getting to the 2nd date. Not sure if anyone can help, but figured it was worth asking.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I will start talking to a girl on Facebook if she is single, I find her attractive, etc. I will ask her questions trying to get to know her and maybe make a joke or tease her here and there. After showing some interest, I will ask her out. Usually to go out to eat or to a movie, or whatever she wants to do. (I do make suggestions though to "take the lead"). For example: "I've really been wanting to see X movie, would you like to go see it with me? And maybe grab something to eat first?" It is kind of hit or miss whether she says yes or not. My main problem is getting the girl to go on a second date. The first date will go well. We get along, I make jokes and tease her. She laughs, seems to be having fun. But then when I ask the girl out a second time, she starts giving me excuses like she is busy, tired, etc. what is going on here? Anyone have any tips on how to get to the 2nd date? Or know what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
