A quick story to illustrate what I am thinking...

Say, there is a girl at my University. Let's call her "Girl A". Girl A is cute and what not, but I never make direct contact with her. One day, I spy her talking to her friend, let's call her "Girl B". If you are anything like me, you are a completely different person when you are around someone who has perked your interest, however, when you are around the average group of persons, you are your usual self. So here is my thinking, and I do realize it is a little... Much. I talk to girl B, because I am not completely reliant on the conversation I have with her, her impression of me, or even my impression of her. I don't care about what she thinks of me as nearly as much as I care about what girl A thinks of me. This means I can be myself and create a good impression. I make friends with her, and through her, met girl A. By doing this, I avoid any possibly awkward interaction with Girl A and gain a good excuse to met Girl A.

Of course, the direct alternative is to simply stop over thinking everything and talk to Girl A, but this is just an idea I wanted to share with the community.

I am a little distracted right now because I am writing this during a college lecture, but Let me know what you think.
