I don't want to blame my friends but i can't help but feel that their betaness rubbed out on me. I found out early on in my life i was pretty alpha, in freshman and sopmore year of high school i talked to all the girls, was social as fuck, and was in general really confident and out going. But i was stuck with the wrong crowd and i kind of ended up like them. My friends are really shy and just in general not confident and me hanging out with them for so many years never really helped. I tried to be as alpha as possible around them but they just wouldn't take a damn hint. I even argued with them saying "hey lets get the fuck out there and get some girls", unfortunately they always pussied out.

I have honestly stopped counting on them, i love them to death they are my long time friends but i just cant do it anymore, i have always had alpha type behavior and i will not be beta, and i am slowly recovering from it. It depresses me to think that i could have been with the right crowd and been so successful in the things i have wanted. The past is the past, whatever i understand that but i still feel like a naive idiot. They never got me anywhere, sigh i feel so bad saying that but its true. I realize everyone gets places by themselves, but what do you do when your only friends you have known for so long are in general suck at something so important to life?

And you know how i know it was them? I got new friends, and guess what? I am a bad-ass. People love me, i am confident, fun, outgoing, and just awesome to be with. I am 22, and i have known my previous friends since elementary school, i will always remember and love them, but i have to move on with my life. I can't live life without getting with girls anymore, there has been too many missed opportunities, and i am the kind of guy who realizes that you only get older as time flies, this is your chance! Its now or never, and i feel great that i have embraced this.

Anyways can any guys on here relate? TL;DR; was alpha, became beta due to shy and awkward friends, now recovering from betaness by not counting on these people anymore.
