So yeah, it absolutely will get you less flakes if she commits to a specific date and then get her number.

YES.

This is actually the best way, since it gives a reason, however flimsy, for her to give you her number. Remember, regardless of how amazing you might be, when you meet someone for the first time, you are a random stranger you know nothing about. This makes it a lot more natural, especially if there are other people nearby, since most women don't want to be labelled as slutty, as someone who gives out her number to complete strangers (Yeah society is messed up, but it is what it is).

Just because you made a girl say yes to plans, doesn't mean she actually wants to go. I've learned from mistakes. Made plans to see each other again but forgot to ask her number directly after, she probably didn't care enough to ask me mine, and by the time I realized it, it was too late.

I now go for numbers early in the conversation. It works so much better and gets it out of the way.
