Latley I have been getting sick of my canned opener and while watching a james marshal video, he described and gave demonstrations of "assumptive openers" which today I tried out in day game and wow...just wow.

The assumptive opener is an opener that assumes something about the girl, usually what she is thinking about, what she is doing, ect. For example I saw a girl eating and apple out in the city, she was just staring off into the distance deep in thought so I opened with "hi, figured out the meaning of life yet?". As bL1y mentioned below, say "hi" first and get her attention.

The assumptive opener is meant to (and does from todays testing) disarm a girls initial defenses and get straight into her head, allowing you to get straight to the conversation without having any blocks in the way.

These can be great, but there's one little modification you need that will make them a whole lot more successful. Start with "Hi," or something similar. "Hey, figure out the meaning of life yet?"

Have you seen Talking Funny? Chris Rock explains that the worst thing an audience can do isn't to not laugh. It's to not pay attention. If they don't laugh, at least you still had a show. But, if they're not paying attention, you've got nothing.

Same idea applies. For your line to land, the first thing you need is the girl's attention. The more unusual the line is, the more you need them to be paying attention before you start. You can walk up to a girl with "Come here often?" and if all she hears is "ere often?" she still knows what you said because it's such a common line. If all she catches is "of life yet?" she's confused, you have to repeat yourself, and repetition is the enemy of wit.
