So I went to the beach today to get some sun and to read a book. I set myself up in a really nice spot with a great view of the ocean, with my chair, my towel, my umbrella, and my book. It was the perfect spot and just what I had in mind for today. After a little while, these really cute girls showed up in their bikinis and set up their beach towels really close to me. I didn’t make much of it, the beach was wide open, not crowded, but I was like, okay, they like this spot too? That’s cool.

A few minutes later, one of the girls sat up in her towel, put her hair up in a sexy gorgeous little bun, looked me seductively in the eyes and said: “Excuse me, are you from around here?” to which I said, “um, yeah, I live in [neighboring city]”. Then she said, “Do you know of a good place around here to get some oysters?”

At this point I was like, really? Oysters? This girl is obviously hitting on me.

I simply said yes, there are lots of nice restaurants in the area and that just a few blocks away there was a place with some great lobster tacos, a really nice bar, and probably oysters too, at a place I’d been to many times. To which she said: “ok, thanks for the recommendation.” I asked her how she'd found this beach, since it's a bit secluded and not very well known, and she mentioned doing some research online. The conversation was short, polite, but I feel that I could have said more to convey mutual interest.

Girls of reddit, I clearly missed an opportunity today. What would have been a more interesting response to the oyster question? What would you have really liked to hear from a guy if you were hitting on him in this way? What is too much to say in this case, and what is not enough?
