I'm a girl, but I think this advice pans out for both genders.

I just had one of the best weekends of my life. I went on a ski trip for my friend's birthday, with a group of people that I had mostly never met. On the first day I went out skiing with a group of all guys which obviously gave me the advantage of the most attention, so maybe I could have said anything and it wouldn't have mattered, but I chose to be myself and share things that weren't your usual get-to-know-you stories. (e.g., why I hate suspenders, my ability to turn my hand around 360 degrees, other random stories and facts about myself). The guy in that group who I thought was the cutest told me that I was the weirdest girl he had ever met. Well by the end of that day, I definitely was feeling a strong connection with him. Lots of lingering eye contact, making fun of each other, etc. The next day he told me I was the coolest girl he had met in a long time. And yes we hooked up.

Be weird. It essentially means being yourself, being different, unique, eye-catching, etc. Not creepy weird but hopefully you get what I mean. It works.
