I was discussing just life and shooting the shit with a co-worker today, and she kept saying I shouldn't be so negative/beta/pushover (whatever you want to call it). I make fun of myself sometimes (as a joke, but I'm too "nice" a guy to make fun of other people to get a laugh), and she was serious about me standing up to people, being more confident, and not letting people "walk all over me" (how she put it).

Now, I fully agree with everything she says - and want to change it. I also realize it's not a "flick a switch" and everything will be different. Change of this nature/magnitude is gradual, and that's why I'm asking here (mods feel free to move it to /r/askseddit, but I figured that was for more situational FRs and all that). Where do I begin? What baby steps can I start with to begin this snowball effect of change? Any motivation/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
