My experience with women has made me very doubtful that it is a good idea to ever "fall in love" with a woman in the traditional way that society would see it.

Personally, I think that you can love a woman, but that "falling in love" with her, is something different. I feel like you can never, ever go to a point where you need the woman to "complete you", or where she becomes your "other half". I feel like in order to maintain the attraction, you have to always remember that you are alone in this world, you have to always find fulfillment and your center in yourself. At best, she is someone you care deeply for, but she can never be someone that you "need". You can love her by treating her better than anyone else in your life except yourself, by loving her more than anyone else except yourself. But you cannot ever fall for her, or depend on her for your emotional sustenance. Essentially, you must always be an emotional provider for her, and she can never really be an emotional provider for you. I think that if you break this rule, you will kill the attraction, and you will lose her. I guess, on a basic level, what I am saying is that you need to always be able to walk away from her if need be, without having your heart broken.

This makes me sad because it is hard to be the bottom line. This seems like a somewhat lonely existence, though definitely worth maintaining attraction in a beautiful, amazing woman. It is hard to live life with no one to really turn to for deep emotional sustenance but yourself. Is this what it means to be an alpha? I'm starting to think that it does.

But what do you guys think?

Edit: the biggest reason that I think the above is sad is that life can be very hard, and you are bound to, at some point, pass through something that hits you very, very hard. I feel like, when a moment like this hits me, that I will not be able to turn to my SO for comfort without ruining the attraction. And that sucks.
