So, I was out with some friends. At the end of the night we were only two left.

Said friend asked me in private about what he should do regarding this girl he likes. He said I was someone he sees as being experienced with women which was a huge compliment for me.

I had a few girlfriends and maybe two hookups, but I think he heavily overestimated me (this gets important later).

So, we talked about his girl and what I would do in his situation. I explained to him you have to take risks to be successful. Rejection isn't bad. It happens, you learn and grow from it.

So, I wanted to show him the worst thing that could happen. I went to a girl standing in a group and told her to slap me while calling me an asshole. Of course she happily obliged. Standing in front of her I told my friend that rejection isn't that horrible and you're just afraid. The worst thing will be having a red cheek.

So, I thanked her for her help and we went our way. After a minute I stopped in my tracks and said you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. I went back to her and asked for her number. She was very happy but pointed to her boyfriend standing next to her and said she would love to go on a date if it weren't for him.

It was a huge compliment as most people would say she was out of my league.

When said friend and I split up to go home I complimented a girl on her jacket while riding on the bus. She was so overwhelmingly receptive and seemed excited I talk to her. I would have asked for her number if didn't almost miss my stop.

My problem is, I didn't approach any girls for a long time and only did so now because that friend boosted my confidence with his opinion of me.

And I wanted to prove it to him that he's right. I wanted to prove it to MYSELF.

I felt amazing doing those approaches and getting such huge positive feedback.

My problem now: I felt this confident because of different circumstances, not 'by myself' and I am afraid to lose it. I don't want it to fiddle away and I'm clueless on how to recreate it.

TLDR: went out with a friend who thinks I am successful with women. This boosted my confidence so that I approached girls and got overly positive feedback. I only was this confident and 'successful' because I wanted to prove it to him and myself that he's right. I don't know how to retrieve this.
