Yeah, it's a bullshit meme that people spread out of fear, it because they personally don't know how to date without leaving a wake of drama and burned bridges behind them.

Of course, it's perfectly fine to date co-workers, as long as one can do so maturely.

How do I adjust my game accordingly with someone that I see/interact with every day? Do I play it like social circle game?

Whatever you do, do it discretely.

Don't be a Weinstein
Pay close attention to them
Talk to them like human beings.
Relate to them a little and see if you get along.

You know, the same as you would outside the workplace. Then just exchange contact information with them at some point, and invite them out one on one, over text.

The point again being, discretion: no one at work should know what's going on.

Rumors in the workplace can screw up whatever you want to happen and can also screw with your work environment.

Maybe when you're flipping burgers or working a BS job, but the lot of us who are well paid, working professionals in a specific industry, we can't fuck around with our careers like that. One black mark from one crazy bitch

I can totally understand being wary about your career. There's always a risk, definitely. That said, some things to consider:

I'm not talking about trying to date a bunch of people at work. Running the numbers in any small group like that, is generally a bad idea, let alone a workplace.

Everyone has their patterns as far as the kind of people they usually attract. This is connected to whatever life lessons they happen to be working on.

And some people are just in a place where their dating pattern either unintentionally creating drama or they're unaware of how to avoid people who bring drama. This is not a knock on those people, at all. But the fact is, drama and dramatic people have a lot of red flags that make it pretty easy to avoid.

And let's be real, the reason why a lot of people come to Seddit, is because they are working on building their social skills. If someone lacks the social skills and awareness to navigate the dating process without offending people, stepping over the line with a woman, or dating unstable people, then dating in the workplace is not something they should attempt.

But for perspective, I've personally seen my share of other co-workers dating in the workplace and engaged in it myself a few times. And the red flags are almost in slow motion if one just observes people as they're interacting.

Some common red flags that I've seen:

Gossips freely about the people she's dated or is dating.
Gossips about other co-workers.
Acts and talks like they are a victim; expresses lack of power over their own life.
Most or all of their stories about their socializing after work, involves drama.
Outright says that they're often dealing with drama.
Talks about getting black-out drunk, often.
Mentions that they're on meds of some kind. (Bears investigation to make sure they're not psych meds.)
Prone to showing extremes of emotion with little provocation.
Exaggerates the truth.
This may sound ridiculous, but the worst cases will often literally TELL people around them what kind of drama they're going to bring. I've heard people say their dating lives always crash and burn. I've heard people literally say that they're compulsive liars. And so on. If you listen, people will often tell you what kind of mess they are.
In general, doesn't have a filter about outside things they do, while in the workplace; doesn't keep a professional separation between work and outside life. (Talking in a superficial way about things that one does, is fine, but when anyone at work could know all the details of their outside life, that's a potential issue.)

Aside from these, as long as one is:

Paying attention
Keeping it utterly clean at work
Talking to people as if they're people
Not playing the field at work
Not being a dick to the people they date
And exchanging contact information to take it outside of work......

.....the risks of dating at work go WAY down.

Plus, if someone's ONLY opportunity is at work, then they are not recognizing their full potential.

Well, yeah. But I don't think anyone was saying anything that implied workplace romances/affairs were the only option?
