Snapchat isn't as serious as texting. People have all their friend circles on snapchat, but the fact hardly anyone texts almost makes it more legit that you two are.

Realistically, if a girl wants to text instead of snapchat, just text. That doesn't mean you can't still send her pics and videos when you want (and vice versa). She might want to save her data. Doing it all on Snapchat is convienient but on so many occasions I've forgotten what someone has just messaged me or just lost track of the conversation in general. It's not really built for sustained messaging like other apps.

The thing you have to consider and use to your advantage is that Snapchat still isn't considered as serious as texting. This means that it will be much easier to get a girl's Snapchat than her number, but it also means that they will be less likely to set up dates/move forward through Snapchat. Treat it like an inbetween, where you ask her for her snap, send her some silly pics/messages, then move on to the number ("This app drains my battery, what's your number?")

YOU have been talking with girl for weeks but haven't fucked her yet....largely based on your own lack of interest and action.

Texting is personal while your snapchat shit is like shouting across the dining hall trying to get someone's attention.

This girl is a plain jane who doesn't really interest you sexually so you don't give a shit about her attention but when you meet a real hotty who you really, really want to fuck, you will quickly learn why you don't want to be stuck shouting in a crowded room trying to get her attention and will be dying to have that number for texting.

But you will have to learn on your own so keep up the snapchatting story streaks while other dudes at your university are dropping panties because they don't view some allegiance to snapchat as more important than getting girls naked and fucked.

Snapchat shouldn't be taken as a serious way to get to know someone because nothing is more forgettable or fleeting than a conversation that deletes itself after every reply or is accompanied by a random picture.

As a chick in college I have no problem conversing with a guy via text and email, it seems way more intimate and personal than chatting on a platform that deletes your messages instantly. Plus you lose the option of looking back at cute texts and overall just rereading a great conversation. Snapchat isn't a serious means of communication.
