There is a correct position/angle to approach. I was at a party and I noticed some guys making mistakes with the angle of position. Basically, every time these guys approached a woman, they approached her when her back was turned. They would come up and poke her shoulder, and that is wrong. For anyone, whether a man or a woman, being called out by someone poking your shoulder is annoying and uncomfortable, especially if your back is turned. The correct way to approach is always from the front or side of the woman. Wait for her to look at you, then you can extend your hand. You can even touch her slowly and gently so that she looks at you, but always from the side or from the front, or both at a diagonal. I approached a beautiful woman with some tattoos. I touched her arm and she got scared. I apologized and she laughed. We started talking and it flowed. So don't forget to always approach her from the front or side, never from the back.
