I've had the opportunity to meet a few interesting co workers who don't work in the same team or floor. So basically, I'd never have an interaction with them normally ever.

I know the usual advice is to not date co workers but there's a lot of difference between theory and reality.

So guys who have dated Co workers how did you get started and progressed?

I can initiate communication via corporate chat or just run into the girl. So make my interest obvious or just talk to them about random stuff or ask them out for coffee directly?

What do you suggest and how soon?
