In my personal experience and others', no guy really verbally "asks" for consent. If she is in your room with just you and her, she is consenting to being alone with you; if you can read the vibe and her body language and take things slow and communicate then you can escalate appropriately without having to pause and be like "hey, can I get you naked and have sex with you?" It kills the vibe. You think Brad Pitt or Leo ask women what they can do? And since this is Reddit I know some idiot is going to take this the wrong way but it all comes down to "reading the room" and taking things slowly, listening to the girl and reading what she is ok with. If she isn't down, she will stop you either verbally or by leaving

Well, point is that you are not congruent. You had her already in the bed and then freezed with escalation at the goal range. So what is the point of the game here?
