I was at a party and talking with some people. A girl randomly walked up to me and said my jacket looks like shit while I was having a conversation with another girl.
Can you clarify:
Had you met this girl before?
Had you interacted with her at the party before this?
Was she friends with the girl that you were talking to?
What was going on before that?
Had you met the girl you were talking to before that?

I literally had no idea what to say....
There was nothing to say. Why should you have to answer something like that?

This was just you an intentionally turning a molehill into a mountain.
This girl walked up and acted rudely.
Think this through: exactly how does this reflect on you?

Apparently my friend overheard that she and the group made fun of me behind my back afterwards.
It's possible that the girl was just bailing out her friend, if you had just met her and it was going more poorly than you realized.
That would be the main explanation why the group would join in making fun of you: as an answer to an awkward situation if you were trying to pick up on that girl and it was going awkwardly.

Never met her in my life. I think she's friends with the girl I was talking with. Nothing went on before, I pregamed with a group of guy friends before arriving at the party. I think I've seen her but I didn't meet her before

Well, shit like that usually doesn't happen out of nowhere, which means one of a few possibilities.
Either of those could account for why someone would randomly be an asshole. And why others would go along with it.
I think she's friends with the girl I was talking with.
This was likely part of the context that flew under your radar. Because, again, this situation didn't just appear out of nowhere.
Guaranteed, if you had better insight and experience, you would have either been able to:
Because make no mistake, if the people were cool and you did nothing wrong and were handling yourself well, then if someone walked up and acted like that girl did, someone else would have slapped her down for you.
The fact that you slinked off like you did and they made fun of you, indicates that you made shit awkward but didn't realize it. So that girl just bailed her friend out.

When I say what happened before, I mean immediately before the girl walked up and insulted you.
The devil is in the details.
This doesn't mean things were necessarily going well.
