There is no reason to create a 'smooth' transition. if there's an opportunity for you to be clever go for it. but the best way is simply work on being as attractive as possible with your OLD profile via good photos and self improvement then just ask them out after establishing a bit of rapport.

anything else is just busy work and wasting time. you aren't going to talk your way out of being ugly.

It's not what people would usually do
It gives her a low-effort but fun way to be creative with you

The only thing I'd add is that you need to throw in some mystery. Like "I have a really good idea..." but don't tell her what it is. Say you can tell her over dinner.

Sometimes I used emojis to ask her whether she would prefer X or Y. As a way to agree to the dinner in the first place. But I like this, it can be very creative
