A woman will always make room for someone who excits them.

Yeah, still stings though. The constant need to be exciting and challenging is exhausting.

Well, then maybe you just find groove to fall into that you enjoy, and see what comes of that life.

It's never them, search on youtube " it's complicated " channel, it's amazing. Interviews with people on the street. The amount of lack of responsibility or deflection women do is unbelievable

Actually it’s you that’s turning her off at that point, but she can’t tell you that as you won’t perceive her as a nice girl.
Yeah, just sucks cause I could never get a concrete reason for it

I mean, I haven't said this too often, but when I did, I meant it. There was an implication usually that I felt the guy was going to be too much work and additional attention to add to my life. If the guys in question had been less needy, more independent, or more just lone wolf types, I might not have felt like I couldn't give them enough time and attention. But I always did feel it was a lack of energy on my part because I felt like I could judge what they needed and knew I couldn't give them that at that point in my life.
This is ultimately because I think everyone is entitled to get the time and attention they want from a relationship. And knowing I couldn't give the guy what he wanted, I would say I'm the problem there. He was, after all, ready to give me what I wanted in a relationship.

Pretty similar in my situation. I know she liked me and could tell I was open to a LTR, but she had a lot going on and was maybe better suited to something casual. I at least got some relief in seeing her post about needing to hire an assistant for her business the next day; and her business was one of the main things she cited for not having the time to date. I'm glad she ended it though because I doubt I could have kept things solely casual with her. I do tend to give off bf vibes early on if I really liked a woman.

I think men often assume women are full of it and just don't like them. But in this particular excuse, we tend to be being 100% honest. The reason we might date a guy a few months later is either he's lower maintenance or we fixed our lives enough to have a relationship without feeling like trash girlfriends. It isn't because we were lying.
[–]RideTheRim 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I don't think she was 100% lying since she seemed super down to continue seeing me and then flipped the switch one day out of nowhere without me doing something off-putting that would cause her to make that decision. Thanks for the insight.

I think it does often just come with feeling overwhelmed. And like, overwhelmed by yourself is one thing, but it always feels bad if you're a decent girl to drag a guy into your mess. It's like, he doesn't deserve this. He deserves a great girl who can give him time and attention and build something with him. And at the times, I was barely maintaining obligations to school, family, and work. Like, am I going to stop sleeping entirely just so I can be the girl this guy deserves? No. I'm going to release him back to the wild to find someone who will really treasure him like I think he deserves and wish I could, but can't. And the guys I'd end up dating following those guys were like low-maintenance practically flings who I knew it wasn't likely to go anywhere with, but I didn't have to feel badly because they either sucked quite a bit or were in a similar position.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense, and while it's convenient and reassuring to apply that line of rationale to my own situation, I do feel it was similar. She knew we had chemistry and the deep talks came naturally and she made it very easy for us to go back to her place the second night. She also said "I'm great and she respects me" and that was one of the reasons she couldn't continue because she knew she couldn't reciprocate fully in her current lifestyle. This helps a lot tbh, confirmation bias or not lol.
[–]MistyMaisel 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh yeah. For sure. Especially if she says you're great and she respects you. I don't say anything close to that unless I really mean it.

I don't think I've generally said this line because I wasn't into a guy.
But also, if you can't take someone at their word because you want to beat yourself up, that's probably a sign they did you both a favour.
