You don’t owe her a friendship and idk if she’s making that much of a big deal over it that’s weird honestly. If she wants you in her life that badly then she should date you. Kinda feels like she’s keeping you on the back burner. I don’t think you’re being needy either, the needy thing to do would be to stay friends with her.

I don’t think you did the wrong thing in asking for distance, but just put a positive spin on it. Tell her you didn’t want to hurt her, but it’s also dishonest and harmful to pretend to want to be just friends when that’s not what you truly want. Tell her you respect her enough to be upfront with her about that.
Those type of situations lead to jealousy and bitterness and will ultimately break a friendship anyway. It’s usually messier to an being upfront form the beginning.
Tell her you truly wish the best for her. After that, if your feelings have truly faded and you want just friendship, re-establish contact if you want. She might be open or might tell you to pound sand, but at least you stated your intentions upfront.
I wouldn’t beat yourself up. You essentially did the right thing

Hey OP! I am in the exactly same situation as yours with the exact same storyline. When I asked her out, she said she needed 2-3 months more to move on from her ex. The other day we went to a club, and it didn’t even take her 10 minutes to dump me and go and make out with some guy who’s probably a druggy. I just couldn’t take it anymore and gone no contact. It hurts man, but we gotta move on!

Yo! It was not to generalise, but I had a bad feeling about him which was somewhat right. The girl called me up to drop her at home because the guy deserted her at the end while he left.

It’s a real desolate spot, so I just did what a good human does and dropped her off at her place. Didn’t bother to talk or react through the entire journey.

The way i see it, you have no choice but to leave the friendship. Staying in it when it's not really what you want is inauthentic. Only way you can go back to is if you are genuinely over her. You can't stay out of guilt or obligation. If you stay you know it's out of hope that she will be with you someday, and that's not fair to her.

I agree. You don't see her as a friend. You said it yourself. You waited too long and you know it. The best thing to do is move on.

I know it hurts, but use this experience to change your next interaction with a girl you like. Let her know you like her as woman and not a friend.

I did the opposite. I turned my best friend into my dream girl because she was crazy about me. But she wasn't really what I wanted and was a great best friend and didn't wanna loose her. When she kept asking and not giving up. I said I'll give it a try. Now we are happy and madly in love. Never argue or anything.

Bro it's really difficult to stay as friends with a girl we like. I've had 3 or 4 experiences like that. From my experience - girls feel like they don't want to date the guy they thought of as "just friends". They decide what you are to them (a friend/or a guy they can have a relationship) within the first few days of getting to know you. So as soon as YOU get to know a girl you like doesn't want to even TRY and see if they can a relationship with you as equally as you try for her, then just end it with her and move on.

Bro never ever become too close as friends when you know she has a boyfriend. You'll always end up in dissapointments. You did the right thing by telling her what you feel and telling her you need space. But don't ever keep high expectations in these situations. Just move on.

First off don't take advice from single people ever..
Have you ever seen the movie Back to the Future? Only thing you can do is take her from dude by sweeping her off her feet but as someone experienced in this she will never fully be committed to you EVER. Your not different and it has nothing to do with it. She needs to be verified with a blue check mark and once it's done on to the next. DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME move on.
Note I am going on a personal experience that I was with a girl for 15 years and watched her cheat on me many times and I took her from my best friend because I thought I was different and could turn a hoe into a housewife WRONG After all that crap we went through to make it work I catch her with a pos ugly small dick Co worker that has a wife and a kid from the great job of Dominos. I was bringing in plenty of money and treated her like her shit didn't stink and it was lined in gold.
YOU SIR ARE NOW THE BIGGEST LOOSER talking about myself at the time.
Do what I did. Lower your standards a little to someone who is crazy about you and lift them up with support, influence, honesty and positivity. And make someone into your dream girl. You will be happy for the rest of your life.
Now listen and you will succeed or not and get screwed when your old but no I one to blame but yourself because you were told. You can't turn a hoe into a housewife PERIOD

Did you perhaps do or say something inappropriate that upset her?
[–]Careful-Evening-5187 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I don't know...I get the feeling you're still leaving something out...
She dry-humps a guy right in front of you, be she gets really upset because you don't text her fast enough? I'm a little skeptical, sorry.

When we met recently she said that the thing that hurt her was that she felt i didnt care at all and she felt powerless because i just cut her off and she cares so much about me and shared many things with me.
She is literally fucking some other dude....but you're trying to convince us that she's so torn up that you're not being chatty....
She is either a monumental sociopath....or there's a detail you are still leaving out.
