About 3 years back I joined a group for a 10-day hike in the Himalayan mountains. We were a group of 9- 3 males and 6 females of different age groups hailing from 3 European countries. I was the oldest in the group aged 33. We had a Nepali guide who led the trek and who although was 39 looked like in his mid-20s and our bags were carried by young sherpas who all looked Chinese or Korean.

At the end of the hike, I found out that our good and young-looking Nepali guide who was not so talkative was able to shag 2 girls from the group on different occasions. Similarly, one other female member confided that she had a crush on a Sherpa who did not speak any English and it was highly unlikely that he talked to her because for some reason the Sherpas always maintained a distance with us. During the trek, I happened to talk with other Nepali guides and they confided to me that it was normal for a female hiker to fall in love with a mountain guide or a Sherpa and in some cases, they even get married.

I am bringing this topic here because what I saw and came to know during the trek defied all preconceived notions of seduction that are heavily discussed in PUA forums and subreddits like this one. First of all, the Caucasian girls who are usually thought to prefer Caucasians over other minorities seemed to prefer minorities over Caucasians in this case. Secondly, the 2 other guys flirted with a few of the girls in the group throughout the trek but I am sure they did not get any chance. However, the girls were attracted to the guide who didn't speak that much or did not seem to flirt at all and the Sherpas who didn't speak anything. So, this also went against the notion that you need to be a smooth talker to seduce a girl. Thirdly, the Nepali guide and Sherpas seemed to wear the same set of clothes for the whole 10 days, didn't shower regularly, and smelled sweat when they were around. However, despite their lack of hygiene, they could attract the chicks.

Last but not the least, the guide and the Sherpas were strong like fuck who carried 25 kilos and more, and climbed the trail like antelopes but were not jacked or ripped. I remarked that our guide even had a potbelly. But this didn't stop them from impressing our European girls who are thought to value a ripped athletic body.

Please bear in mind that I am not jealous that the guide was able to fuck two girls and that at least one girl was head over heels for an uneducated, poor Sherpa from a remote Himalayan countryside. But what I felt that maybe it's not the ethnic background that matters, it's not a good financial position that matters, it's not a confident extrovert personality that matters (they were all, including our guide, very shy), it's not great hygiene and a good dress-up sense that matters, it's not even a great body that matters. So the only thing I am left with to associate this particular attraction is - "apparent age". I mentioned in the beginning that our guide although 39 looked much younger than me and all Sherpas looked 20-25. Is it then safe to assume that "apparent youth" mixed with exotic looks is the principle factor of female attraction? If this is true then as a 36 year old guy who looks 40 and who is not very attractive but who prefers hanging out with 20 22 year olds, am I doomed forever?
