Why don’t you just take her to a normal restaurant? It’s not like you HAVE to go to a bar, if she wants to drink she can order one at a restaurant and you don’t have to

I’ve heard that taking a girl out eat for a first date is pretty bad, so I was trying to avoid that

As long as you don't go to a really expensive restaurant then it's not the worst idea. Keep it very casual. Amusement parks or some attraction where you can walk and talk is better. Just don't go see a movie lol. I know it's tough in the winter months if you don't live in a warm state.

Why is that bad? Idk where you heard that but I fully disagree. As a woman it is the perfect place for a first date. In fact I would not want to do anything else on a first date. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere private. A public place feels safe and it is a place where you can get to know each other, talk, and decide if you like them. Then if there is a second date maybe something more fun like a hike or picnic or some other activity like that that’s less formal.

Why is dinner expected for you as a first date? That sounds like kinda entitled.

What? What is entitled about going out to have dinner on a date????
[–]Global-Bridge-6787 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Because dinner is too formal when you’re first meeting someone.

Okay. I’m not saying pick a 5 star restaurant for a first date. If you don’t wanna go to dinner with someone for a date then don’t? I would want to so I do. Nothing is entitled about picking a place to go eat food together and talk for a date. It’s probably the most common thing to do for a first date anyway.

It is common for sure but I think it’s the least fun of getting to know someone. Agree to disagree. Seems too formal and can give off the “I’m a provider vibe” instead of getting drinks/smoking a j in the park/getting ice cream and walking together in the city can be fun and interesting, even memorable if you stumble upon people you know, which can add social proof.

I’m definitely not going to drink and do drugs with a man I don’t know, or go anywhere alone with him. That’s a very scary and dangerous situation for women…

And yet women do it every day… just not you. Have a nice day! 😉

I would tell her if she wants to go to my place.

I would invite her to a hike/walk along a pretty cool river nearby, up to a place called The Heavenly Falls, and find a place to sit and talk for a bit. It’s like a 15min walk from midtown. Maybe bring some snacks or buy something to eat on the way.
If everything goes smooth, I would try to schedule a second date sometime while we’re sitting and talking.

There's hundreds of options for you
-Coffee shop -bowling -arcade -picnic in a park -museum/art gallery -mall -roam around local city/town 'pretend' to be tourists -crazy golf Etc etc
Don't overthink it, where you go or the activity you choose doesn't really matter, it's all about the interaction.
