First of all:

I used to have the same impulse (reverse situation) where I felt like I needed to still get major attention from other women because for the longest time, I believed I needed to have multiple options at all times "to be safe".

First of all, it's important to recognize that this isn't fair, nor is it normal. Not normal: Why do you think you need attention from other men? Your justification of "It's a brutal world out there" is too vague. Think about the real why, what you are afraid of. For me, it was the fear of being too dependent on one woman and to repeat some of the same mistakes that left me a broken mess and took me a good year to recover from. Take your time to formulate what you're afraid of.

As to why it is unfair: Think how you would feel if your boyfriend would post this very thing on this subreddit, trying to get more women's attention, saying he likes you and all but he just needs more attention and have multiple options on the back-burner "just in case". This circles back to issue #1 - try to figure it out and talk to him about it.

Best of luck. Find the courage to confront this problem if you really like this man.
