Depends on the context really, shoulder touching means this person is comfortable around you, it doesn't have any bearing on what they think of you on a deeper level so if that's the only signal you're receiving then all we know is they're comfortable around you.

Honestly, in my experience these situations are only complicated if you make them complicated.

By that I mean you can save yourself a lot of trouble by just telling them you're attracted to them to see what response you get.

If that's too much maybe try flirting with them again just to regester their response.

No matter what you do, given the fact that they're clearly comfortable around you they will want to maintain that. So their response is either going to be "I'm attracted to you too" or "I'm sorry if this sucks but I don't feel the same way"

If it's the latter being able to just accept that and say "fair enough, that's okay I just wanted to be straightforward and open so I know where we both stand. If anything changes you know how i feel, but I'll always love you as a friend first so lets just put this behind us." will be the difference between losing a friend or not.

Nerves can be tough to manage but however you deal with this I wish you luck and growth ✌️

As with pretty much every kind of body language, it's contextual. It can be dominance. It can be sympathy. It can be a friendly gesture.

In Balkan for example that is normal.

In Norway, that would be disturbing.

It can mean many things, like trying to get your attention, to really focus on what is the shoulder-toucher saying, and making you to agree in a dominant way.

Or in a friendly banter scenario just a friendly gesture from a person that is more touchy or just needs an assurance gesture.

Or the paper towels on the toilet were gone
