Let me start by saying that I'm not defending her reaction; I'm just explaining it. It's essentially the result of beta game (ie, most guys). Beta's believe (or have been taught) that seducing a woman involves building rapport and comfort with her. The problem is, they ignore the first and most important step of seduction: building sexual tension. From her point of view, if you are building rapport and comfort without sexual tension, you are being friendly. When you later come out and express sexual interest, it comes off as incongruent on your part. It FEELS to her like your friendliness was not a consequence of your interest in her as a person, but a conditional exchange for sex. And she's not wrong, for the most part... Women find this extremely repulsive, and often react very negatively. Women tend to shame beta's harshly when they perceive them to get "out of line".
This is why a guy needs to make his sexual intent clear (or create sexual tension) from the outset. This way, you are not putting the cart before the horse, and are setting a clear tone for the relationship: a man to woman interaction. This pretty much eliminates the friend zone shit. The interaction has been sexualized enough so that if you get a "let's just be friends" line from her at some point, then you know your seduction has failed and can learn and move on gracefully.
NOTE: I'm using the beta/alpha terminology as an oversimplified generalization.
TL;DR: Would you rather be alpha, and when your seduction fails be nonetheless called confident and respected. Or be beta and when the same happens be called misogynist and creepy?

She says there’s no such thing as the friend zone, then goes on to say she’s not putting you anywhere where you’re not already, implying the existence of the friend zone, she’s clearly an idiot

She's not putting you anywhere that you're not already
She's right about this. There's a difference between falling in to and putting you in the friendzone.
She's saying that the way the friendzone works is that people fall in to it naturally by not generating sexual tension/comfort, instead they're only generating emotional tension/comfort aka a friend.
While she believes that the idea of the friendzone is that women put men in it after they're being nice & expect to be rewarded for sex (as others mentioned on this post it's not congruent, and implies a manipulative nature).
She's not an idiot, she simply doesn't believe the misogynist connotation of friendzoning that makes her look like an enemy (bitch, prude, etc). With that said the idea/term does exist (guy wants a sexually involved relationship, the girl doesn't. It was miscommunicated somewhere down the line whether it was intentional/manipulative or natural/not).
tl;dr she doesn't believe that Women put men in the friendzone, she believes that men fall in to it naturally by not indicating intent. She believes this is what the term means (hence she mentions she dislikes the misogynist use it has), and disagrees with it

I’m tempted to reply to her but i think I’d rather avoid a stupid argument with an ideological leftist
[–]CrucialAmmunition 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah not worth your time mate, I’d bet she’ll only have something nonsensical to say in return
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I find this contradictory because she says it implies that women aren’t able to set the boundaries of their relationships, but they literally are by performing the action of putting you in the friend zone.

Yeah, I don't follow her logic regarding agency. So there's probably some paradox, nuance, in how she's using the term we don't get.
Usually when women say things like this I ask a bunch of questions and just let it sit with me understanding a little better where they are coming from. Like you, I don't think there's any value in arguing. This is probably a belief she holds pretty strongly.
I don't think this is an indication of a leftist belief. (Though I'm guessing you know her more than this snippet.)
It seems to me she has some point of reference for other people using the term which were unpleasant.
The latter half of what she says, that jerks use the term - is something I find to be generally true. It sort of goes hand in hand with talk like, "girls don't like nice guys." Or guys who self describe as nice guys generally being whiny jerks.
Happy cake day bro!
I sit back and think about a lot of things over the span of a few days to better understand it, but this is one of those things where people try to sound “woke” but just look stupid. I think leftist ideologists tend to hold these negative beliefs re: men and anything related to sexual relationships.

I consider myself left of center. But agree, anyone who self describe as woke, probably isn't. (Especially as they are disparaging their out group.)

I agree to a point that the friendzone doesn't exist for girls trying to pigeonhole guys. It exists for guys who get rejected and don't see that, so they cling on and try to be nice for sex. If you see a girl sexually and she rejects that, just leave. You gain nothing by continuing the relationship.
The misogynist comment, however, is the dumbest shit I've read all day

misogynists? lol oh what a dumb cunt
[–]Lambdal7 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
The friendzone doesn't exist id you know how to tease and create attraction and comfort. No girl will just see you as a non sexual friend, they will see you as an interesting friend who she feels a sexual vibe with and at anytime, you can switch the flip from just being a friend to a lover.
On the other hand, if you are not good at game, it's exceptionally hard to get out of the friendzone, because you don't know how.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I disagree and here is why: there are always people who will never be attracted to you no matter what you do, those who can be attracted to you if you have good game, and those who are unconditionally attracted to you no matter what you do.
Girls who are not attracted to you but like you as a friend put you in the friend zone quickly. Girls who can become attracted to you if you have good Game won’t friend zone you instantly if they feel somewhat attracted.

Yes, but they will friendzone you if you haven't made a move after knowing her for a few meetups. That's the friendzone.

I was disagreeing with the first part of your comment.
To clarify, i basically disagree because no matter how good your game is, some girls will friend zone you and that’s just how things go.
