I (29m) many years ago had made the mistake of revolving my life and availability around a girl I fell in love with in college. I was doing well in school but did I have drive? Not as much, because I devoted so much attention to her.

I put her needs before my own and she did not appreciate me for that. Not one bit; she passed me up like I was nothing to her. I have learned the hard way - I live my own life first. While I don't have me a lovely lady yet, I am much better at taking care of my own shit first. Then I'll find a lady who deserves me.

That’s really all you should be doing, but striving to be your best self— striving to be productive in your own particular way, whether what you like to do makes sense to others or not. That's masculine energy. Being driven, focused and determined. And here's the most important part. Let's say you start dating or seeing other women. KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY.

Many guys are focused, driven and goal oriented but once they meet a cute girl or start getting exclusive, they default to this White Knight, needy behavior syndrome. And nothing kills more attraction than a needy, insecure man.
