I decided to start reading this book because I really needed this kind of change in my life. I was bullied as a kid and would always get in fights but hated that I would end up not having any friends since I would always end up winning these fights so I slowly started allowing myself to get picked on. I ended up catching the biggest break in high school out of sheer luck since everyone enjoyed having me around and I had lost a bunch of weight but I feel like this was also bad for me since this allowed me to avoid confrontation most of my life.

I realized I needed this change when the girl I like not only friend zoned me but started treating me with less respect than I deserve. Ranging from not reciprocating non sexual things, expecting me to do things she doesn’t want to do, and the one that i guess made me snap was when I was drying my clothes on a rack and she just piles them up by my room while they were still wet when she needed it. She’s someone that’s clearly spoiled and since she’s an acting student you can only imagine how big of a drama Queen she is. She’s also someone that could be described as a “user” and she admitted it when she talked about how she temporarily hung out with certain people to not be alone at school.

With this girl I could care less what happens but since I’m stuck with her and her friend until June I don’t want to create an awkward environment but I’m not really looking forward to dealing with crap like that again.

Other than that situation I’m looking forward to changing up how I approach things with people but I’m still nervous about how I may be perceived. I know that in the book it mentioned that I should be ready to lose friends due to this change but I still get that anxious feeling that I’ll be seen as “cocky” or like I suddenly became “too good” since I’m now studying in a different country.
