I think its all about the intention behind your words and maybe even the passion behind it. For example at this party yesterday I was talking about some personal accomplishments. Although that topic was all organic, I also never felt like the reason why I was saying these things was so I can impress this girl and make her think I'm cool. I was legitimately passionate about things I did and I didn't care if she thought those things were cool or make me high value, I already know I'm high value and I'm just sharing how I'm enjoying my life. You can get gamey with it by using it a test to see if she buys into your frame. For example if you go to the gym a lot you can say something like you think everyone should go to the gym or at least have some physical hobby because its a statement about their personality that it shows they care about their health. If a girl likes you, she usually will try to buy into your frame and agree. Even if she doesn't actually go to the gym, if the girl likes you she usually will still agree and make some reason to explain why she doesn't right now, but is looking to start.

In your case examine the intent. It sounds like your intent is to communicate how cool and awesome you are. So yes, that's approval seeking. You don't have to display any value when you meet a woman.
