So often in this subreddit I'll see a story of some guy who's like 6 foot tall, says he's attractive, in college, knows a lot of people, he's in a fraternity, going to parties frequently and he says he can't get laid to save his life.

If this guy is for real (and I mean no one specific, but this "type" keeps showing up) think about all the advantages he has. That's a CRAZY high amount of advantages there. And he says even with trying, he hasn't gotten anything back, etc.

So I can look at that and think to myself, well, I have none of those advantages, I'm much older, still a virgin... what does THAT say about my chances?

I tend to think, is it really THAT insanely hard out there? It's not a pleasant thought.

The thing is, I'm basing a lot of this on what I see online (here and in other places) so maybe some data is being left out or maybe these guys actually have done well before, are omitting something, etc.

How do you guys feel about this? Do stories like this have any effect on your chances (real or perceived), especially when you have the trifecta of poor status, average looks, social difficulties, etc?
