Does flirting 'create' attraction?

It's a way to express interest in a socially acceptable way, a way to show off your strengths.

You can't just go up to people and say "I'm super smart and a social butterfly" or "I know what makes women tick and am awesome in bed". It doesn't work, even if you have references (guess how I know that!). Flirting is showing off these things while expressing interest. Show, not tell.

Flirting is to attraction what a key is to a door. It doesnt create the door. It unlocks it.

If by flirting you mean showing a girl that you're a socially adept person who's confident, fun to be around, and not afraid to express your desires then yes, it builds attraction.
