Feel you man. But I feel like that (cringily naive & stupid) old me is a large part of what is both driving and enabling me to be better. You can use that as an orientation fixpoint, a measurement device so to speak. We all need such fix points from which to orient ourselves. The more defined they are the more valuable and reliable they proof. When look at it that way you'll find yourself short of resentment for that old you.

E.G.: I was a pathological Nice Guy in many ways. Obviously I'm moving away from these aspects now but only having identified these very aspects precisely and labeling them undesirable/harmful I am able to navigate away from them and more important noticing when I've let down my guard and fall back into these pathological behavioral pattern.

It's great to have a goal but non-goals are just as important - sometimes even more important. They'll keep you moving when you don't know where to go and make sure you at least don't fall behind in what ever domain you find yourself in.
